Devin Browne

Devin Browne is a teacher of French and Russian at Pittsburgh Brashear High School, one of the largest and certainly the most diverse high school in Pittsburgh Public Schools. In addition to teaching, Devin is one of three advisers to the school’s Gender Sexuality Alliance, or GSA. Working in concert with school administrators, GSA advisers, and many activist-oriented students, they were successful at implementing a comprehensive school-wide policy to support transgender and gender non-conforming students. After two years, this group succeeded in pushing this policy district-wide, positioning Pittsburgh as the first school in southwestern Pennsylvania to implement such a policy.
