Bullying and Violence Prevention

On a daily basis, 20-30% of children and adolescents experience some form of bullying. Because of these growing numbers, the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention became a pilot site for implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) in Cambria County, Pennsylvania in 1999.

Clinical Health Promotion

The Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention is nationally and internationally recognized for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of evidence-based programs in a community, especially in schools. This Pediatric/Public Health Professional-led Center has been active in addressing the public health issues of childhood obesity and school-based bullying.

School Health

Schools are in a unique position to enhance students’ mental and physical health. Through our own school health initiatives, our objective is to augment or introduce programs that improve a child’s knowledge of weight management, self-esteem and mental health, nutritional education, and drug and alcohol awareness.
