Shiryl is the Manager of the Center for Health Promotion & Disease Prevention. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education and has spent time as a Classroom Teacher and Home School Liaison, before turning her professional focus to violence prevention and school-based public health. Shiryl’s practice includes functioning as a Technical Assistance Consultant with the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, as well as certification process with the National School Climate Center. She consults with public and private agencies, and has been asked to speak to national audiences about bullying, student safety, coordinated school health and school and community-based interventions. She was recently published by the American Public Health Association in A Public Health Approach to Bullying Prevention. Shiryl lives in western Pennsylvania with her husband Stephen; they have four children.
Karla Joyce-Good, M.S.W.
Karla is the Director of Community Outreach for the Center of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. She oversees the development and facilitation of professional enrichment opportunities and community education events. Karla also serves as a Bullying Prevention Consultant for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. In this role, she staffs the statewide Bullying Prevention Consultation Line which offers support and resources to students, families, and schools experiencing chronic and ongoing bullying issues. Karla is a Licensed Social Worker and holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh.
