Shiryl Barto, M.Ed.

Ms. Barto is the Manager of the Center for Health Promotion & Disease Prevention. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education and has spent time as a Classroom Teacher and Home School Liaison, before turning her professional focus to violence prevention and school-based public health. Her practice includes functioning as a Technical Assistance Consultant with the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, as well as certification process with the National School Climate Center. She consults with public and private agencies, and has been asked to speak to national audiences about bullying, student safety, coordinated school health and school and community-based interventions. She was recently published by the American Public Health Association in A Public Health Approach to Bullying Prevention. Ms. Barto lives in western Pennsylvania with her husband Stephen; they have four children.

Michelle Naccarati-Chapkis

Ms. Naccarati-Chapkis has worked in the non-profit field for nearly 20 years gaining expertise in the fields of non-profit management, strategic planning, fundraising, communications, lobbying and grassroots initiatives. She is the first executive director of Women for a Healthy Environment (WHE). In this role she leads the organization’s strategic activities, focusing on prevention of human health problems linked to environmental risk factors. WHE provides the community access to reliable, scientific information; supplies citizens with the tools necessary to advocate for policy solutions that address environmental issues that impact human health; and informs the region through educational workshops and conferences, community events and speaking engagements.
